Fees
Our engagements are not inexpensive, and they are not meant for everyone. If a dedicated tutor for a single child is not something your family is currently considering, there are excellent tutoring companies who will serve you better than we will — and we are glad to tell you which.
We would rather say that now than halfway through a first conversation.
The variables
None of them is negotiable after the fact, and all of them are settled before you are asked to commit to anything.
What it buys
An engagement is priced on the whole arrangement: the diagnostic and the plan that comes out of it, the search that finds the right tutor, the preparation before each session, the record kept against the baseline, and one point of contact who knows the student rather than a support queue.
The teaching hour is the visible part of that. It is not the expensive part.
Questions
After the first conversation and the diagnostic, not before. The fee follows from what the student actually needs — the level and board, how many subjects, how often, and over what period. Quoting before that would be guessing, and a guess large enough to be safe is not a quote.
A published hourly rate prices a service. These are engagements, and two students sitting the same paper can need work that differs by a factor of three. A single number would be wrong for almost everyone who read it.
No. It runs about thirty minutes, with someone who would actually run the engagement, and it includes a diagnostic view of where the student is. If it shows we are not the right practice we will say so on that call and tell you who is.
Fees are agreed for a defined period and re-agreed if the shape of the work changes — a subject added, an exam brought forward, a move abroad. Nothing changes on an invoice that has not been discussed first.
Sessions can be rescheduled up to twenty-four hours in advance. Inside that window the session is counted, because the tutor has held the time and prepared for it.
Thirty minutes, no charge, with someone who would actually run the engagement. You will have a figure within a few days of it, with the working shown.
